The work of the Alliance for Beyond Land Acknowledgement is guided by our determination to nurture and promote right relations with the people who have lived on and stewarded this land they called Turtle Island for generations uncounted. We know that the people who called themselves Aniyunwiya, “the principal people,” and came to be known as Tsalagi, or Cherokee, have lived here for at least a thousand years and perhaps for very much longer.
